| Spring Ridge SprintSwim
The race begins in the pool at Spring Ridge We will be using 2 pools....You'll swim first in the lap pool, exit, then enter the competition pool. When you finish both pools, you'll have swum a total of 250 yards (actually a little more, since the 2nd pool is a 25-meter pool). To start the race, everyone will be lined up by race number. Swimmers will begin one at a time at 5-second intervals. Each will sit and slide into the pool. You will swim down the first lane, touch the wall, go under the laneline, push off of the wall on the other side of the laneline, then swim back in the next lane, go under the next laneline, swim down the next lane, etc. This is called a snake swim...and you should practice going under the lanelines at your own pool before the triathlon. When you exit the first pool, you'll be directed to the start lane of the second pool. You don't need to wait in line here, just sit down and slide into the pool and begin swimming. The pool will be set up with 6 lanes and you'll do the snake swim format to complete all 6 lanes. At the end of the swim, you'll exit the pool and walk (always walk on the pool deck) toward the transition area.
